New upgradeable iEdge Game Adapter Card

by admin on March 19, 2010

iEdge Game Adapter for DS/DSiWell, Well Well … there is a new kid in the blocks that has sneaked up on us.

We didn’t even know that there was a new card in the making and we don’t have our hands on one just yet to try out. R4i.co.uk are now shipping this card though.

Like the M3 Zero, the iEDGE big selling point is that it should be impervious to attempts by Nintendo to disable it through DSi or DSi XL firmware upgrades.

The secret is that just as Nintendo can upgrade the firmware on the consoles to block older generation cards, iEDGE firmware (via Micro SD) AND bootstrap (on card programming) can both be updated and should be able to catch up with Nintendo, negating the need to buy a new card should Nintendo initially block it, because iEDGE will develop a new bootstrap upgrade that you can apply to your card.

Otherwise, the card appears to offer the same range of features as the leading DSi game adapter cards. As we say, we haven’t received one ourselves to test yet, but you can order via R4i.co.uk at any time using our Exclusive PR20 code to receive a 20% discount …. or if you are really quick, R4i are offering a launch discount of 30% this weekend only (use code on the R4i.co.uk website) i.e. 30% discount until 21 March 2010 only, after which you can still receive a 20% discount using our code PR20.

Feature Set as follows :

  • Supports DSi/DSL/DS
  • Fully upgrade-able bootstrap to combat future DSi firmware updates
  • Supports DSi firmware v1.4+
  • Plays Homebrew NDS ROMS
  • Frequently updated OS for best compatibility
  • In game reset
  • Full download play support
  • SlowMotion mode
  • Save game saves directly to Micro SD
  • Automatic save game type detection
  • Supports MicroSDHC cards up to 32GB
  • Multimedia playback such as movies and MP3’s
  • Action Replay compatible cheat system
  • Multi language user interface
  • Micro SDHC card reader included
